Major Research Achievements (since 2006)

Plant cyclopeptides: (1) Established the systematic chemical method for plant cyclopeptides including the new TLC detecting method, and discoverednearly 200 cyclopeptides from about 20 plants including 3 novel ones and about 100 new ones. (2) Tested several bioactivities, found about 30 active cyclopeptides and several hits, and clarified new mechanisms of one immunosuppressive and one antitumor cyclopeptides. (3) Set up a new quantity control HPLC method using the cyclopeptide heterophyllin B as the chemical marker of traditional Chinese medicine Pseudostellaria heterophylla, which was cited by the Chinese Pharmacopeia (version 2010). (4) Proposed a new definition and systematic structural classification of plant cyclopeptides and that cyclopeptides are one of characteristic components in Caryophyllaceae plants; Proposed new possible biosynthetic pathways of plant cyclopeptides. (5) The review titled Plant Cyclopeptides was published in Chemical Reviews in 2006.Projects on plant cyclopeptides was honored with a first-class prize from the Yunnan Province’s Awards for Natural Sciences in 2006 andsupported by several funds from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, particularly the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars to Dr. Ning-Hua Tan (2007).

Plants contained or non-contained cyclopeptides:Isolated and elucidated nearly 1000 compounds from about 70 contained or non-contained cyclopeptide plants, including 2 novel ones and about 250 new ones; Tested several bioactivities, found about 100 active compounds and several hits, studied mechanisms, QSAR, docking and virtual screening of active compounds.

Other: Published97 papers(56 SCI ones) and book chapters, applied 4 patents, presented over 30 invited lectures at international and national conferences, organized two national conferences, and won 11 honors.
