General Information
To celebrate her 50th and 60th anniversary, Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB) organized the 1st and 2nd International Symposium on the Sustainable Use of Plant Resources in 1988 and 1998. This year KIB will meet her 70th anniversary and the 3rd International Symposium on the Sustainable Use of Plant Resources will be held in Kunming on Oct. 28-30, 2008.
Since the 2nd Symposium in 1998, we have witnessed many marked progresses in plant science and biotechnology. Not only have many new plant resources been discovered and used for improving social welfare and environment, but approaches and models of plant utilization have dramatically been changed because knowledge innovation and technological development. On the other hand, the complexity of plant diversity and sustainability of plant use urge international cooperation and interdisciplinary exchange. Therefore KIB would like to provide an excellent opportunity to discuss recent and important issues on research and development of plant resources.
Scope
The scope of the symposium will cover, but not limited to, the following topics:
Diversity & Distribution of East Asia Plants
Phytochemicals and Their Potentials as Drugs
Advances in Seed Biology & Germplasm Preservation
Call for papers
Authors are invited to first submit abstracts (original plus two copies if sent by post) of approximate 500 words, in English, to the conference secretariat before May 1, 2008. Abstract should include the title, authors’ names and affiliations, full mail addresses, fax number, e-mail addresses, and her/his preferred topic areas. Please send the abstract by email (recommended), FAX or post.
Location
The opening ceremony will be held in EXPO Garden Hotel and all parallel sessions will be held in KIB campus, 15 km from the downtown of Kunming City. All participants will be invited for celebrating KIB’s 70th anniversary event on the afternoon of 28th, Oct. 2008..
