Call for Papers from Plant Diversity for a Special Issue on Ethnobotany: The Future of Plant Conservation

The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) recognizes the importance of traditional knowledge derived from indigenous and local communities for the conservation of biodiversity. The scientific research subject Ethnobotany – the study of human interactions with plants, is relevant to many global concerns including food security, climate change, biodiversity conservation and human health.  Ethnobotanical study can provide insight into the role that traditional culture plays in guiding human interactions with environmental resources, as well as help integrate traditional and local knowledge with efforts to conserve biocultural diversity.

This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in ethnobotany on biodiversity conservation, especially the documentation, preservation, and maintenance of indigenous and local knowledge, as well as innovations and practices associated with plant resources.
