Stephen Blackmore, an Honorary Professor of KIB, Won the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of Yunnan Province

Professor Stephen Blackmore is an internationally renowned botanist, and also one of the leading figures in promoting conservation of plant diversity. In 1999, he was appointed director of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh by the Queen. As the honorary professor of Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Stephen Blackmore was directly involved in the Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden jointly built by Yunnan Province and CAS, and its field station, promoted and participated in personnel training and scientific and technological cooperation with KIB, and carried out the long-term collaborative research together with the relevant researchers of KIB on formation and evolution of biological diversity in Northwest Yunnan, especially the palynological research, and made a series of results, promoted the academic exchange and cooperation of both sides and made important contributions to the Sino-British cooperation in the context of international scientific cooperation.
