On invitation, Dr. Bounhong Southavong, director of the Traditional Medicine Research Center (TMRC), Ministry of Health, LAOS, started a 6-day visit to KIB on October 28.
As representatives of the two sides, Dr. Sun Hang and Dr. Bounhong Southavong signed Scientific Cooperation Agreement between KIB and TMRC. According to the agreement, the two sides are to conduct studies on phytochemistry of common interest, to make field investigation on medicinal plant resources in Laos, to determine the plant name list, and have geobotanical studies and seed exchanges, etc.
Prof. Sun Hang briefed KIB history, research team building, and cooperation with Laos over past years. He said KIB and TMRC can expand cooperation in many aspects, and wish the cooperation a great success.
In his written speech, Dr. Bounhong Southavong extended warm congratulations to the 70th anniversary of KIB, and felt honored to take part in the ceremony. He said the two sides may take their own advantages into full use and contribute to medicinal plant diversity studies.
Prof. Zhou Zhekun and Prof. Wu Sugong were present at the signing ceremony.
