Arthur Holcombe, the president and founder of the Poverty Alleviation Fund (TPAF) in America visited Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB, CAS) on June 17th. Prof. Gan Fanyuan, deputy director of KIB had a meeting with him to discuss the current projects and future cooperation. Mr. Holcombe gave a presentation on Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development in Rural China.
Prior to establishing TPAF in 1998, Arthur was Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in China for six years, before which he worked in senior leadership positions at UNDP for more than 20 years in Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Sudan, Fiji, and New York. Arthur holds an A.B. (Government) from Harvard College and a Ph.D. (Economics) from New York University, and is an Associate of Harvard University’s Asia Center.
