Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan inspected the CAS Kunming Institute of Botany on Sunday August 13, 2006. He visited the State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Plant Resources in West China, the Herbarium, and Botanical Gardens.
After listening to the KIB Director's work report, and holding talks with researchers and graduate students, Zeng Peiyan said, the CAS Knowledge Innovation Program has provided CAS institutes with better research environment and work condition. He pointed out that it is very promising to do research on botany in Yunnan, and more talents should be encouraged or introduced to work in KIB.
Zeng Peiyan said, Yunnan is rich in natural resources, thus is one of the best places to push forward scientific research on plants; KIB should continue efforts to enforce its study, benefit the public with the research outcomes and improve cooperation with schools and enterprises on environmental protection.
